What you said: As a community you have expressed concern over drug dealing in your local area. Your local Neighbourhood Policing Team is actively working to address this issue and ensure that drug related problems are tackled effectively to prevent further occurrence. What we did: We have specific patrols to target the areas that you have identified, namely the telephone kiosk in Kingsmere Way and drug activity in Rockhall Avenue. We have also executed several warrants targetting those believed to be involved in the supply of drugs. What Happened? We have detered drug related activity in the community, but our aim is to catch and prosecute offenders. We continue to rely on your information and encourage you to contact your local neighbourhood policing team or Crime Stoppers.

What you said: Anti-social behaviour by younger children on the estate

What we did: PCSO Holland maintains a regular patrol in the area. He is working closely with the neighbourhood constables to deal with any issues that occur. Residents have raised concerns over ball games and other activities that are taking place in the area and this is the primary focus of the neighbourhood teams efforts. What Happened? PCSO Holland is working closely with the Housing Associations to visit residents who have been effected by these issues, or have been identified as having children involved in the anti-social behaviour. This work is ongoing and hopefully success will be seen in time.

Dangerous cycling both on the estate and also on Pevensey Bay Road

What you said: You raised the issue of cyclists not behaving properly on the pavements and roads around the area. This in turn causes problems for pedestrians, especially those with young children and the elderly. What we did: Local officers stop and speak with everyone who are acting inappropriately on cycles. This is along side publicity regarding road safety and cycle safety. With the darker evenings it is very important that we try to prevent incidents and accidents happening. This work continues.

Thefts from Garden Sheds
Eastbourne Police are investigating a number of incidents across Kings Park and Kingsmere where several garden sheds have been broken into. Garden equipment has been targeted with mowers and tools being taken. The majority of these offences have occurred overnight.
Neighbourhood Officer for Kings Park & Kingsmere, PC Ed Faulkner said, “We have increased our patrols and are targeting our resources within the area to prevent any further offences and identify those responsible. In the meantime I encourage all house holders to check the security of sheds and outbuildings and make sure that they are secured with decent locks. We have a number of leaflets available to help advise how to make buildings more secure. Jan Newens, Chair of Neighbourhood Watch has a small supply of shed alarms should anyone wish to make use of them. These are available through local Officers and at the Police Station.
We are also concentrating on outlets for stolen goods and I urge anyone with information about who may be responsible for these offences to contact me or call crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
Sgt Ed Ripley, who is responsible for Neighbourhood policing in Kings Park & Kingsmere, “We are determined to catch the people responsible for this spate of thefts but rely on the community to help us by reporting anything suspicious straight away by dialling 999. Overall crime in Eastbourne has again fallen by 8% compared to the previous 12 month period which means there are 656 fewer victims across the town. We intend to continue this reduction in crime.”

Drugs warrant, Eastbourne
As part of the on-going campaign to stamp out drug offences and substance-related crime, police in Eastbourne this morning (29th April) executed Misuse of Drugs warrants and have arrested seven people believed to be in possession of banned substances.
Intelligence-lead policing resulted in warrants being executed at four addresses on Kingsmere Estate, Eastbourne, on Wednesday April 29 in which a number of suspects were simultaneously searched. A quantity of cannabis, amphetamine crack-cocaine and cocaine with a substantial street value – were recovered by forty-two officers involved in the operation.
Five men and two woman have been arrested on suspicion of drugs related offences and are currently in custody at Hammonds Drive, helping police with their enquiries. The street value of the drugs seized is £16,000.

The problem was identified as a priority by the Kingsmere Neighbourhood Panel and a survey conducted in the area highlighted the concerns expressed by local residents.
Sergeant Ed Ripley Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We will take firm action against drug dealers and work closely with the community to address drug related crime."
“My team and I have been working hard to address the issue and we will continue to focus on the selling drugs."

The first meeting of the Neighbourhood Panel for Kingsmere and Kings Park took place on Tuesday 31st March 2009 at the Kings Park Community Hall. A number of residents were in attendance along with the local Councillor and Neighbourhood Police Officers. The Chairman is June Moxon who is a Kings Park residents and is keen to see the Panel bring a number of benefits to the area. Indeed the Panel has already decided to survey the residents of the area to identify the issues. This will take place in the coming weeks.
PC Ed Faulkner, Neighbourhood Constable for the area, said "This is a very positive step for the residents of the area. We are already working hard side by side with communities throughout Eastbourne and this positive step will only make that stronger. If anyone is interested in becoming part of the new Panel for the area they can get in touch with me, similarly if they have any concerns or issues they would like addressed<.

Following consultations with residents from both Kingsmere and Kings Park, the first meeting of the joint Neighbourhood Panel for this area will take place on Tuesday 31st March 2009 at the Kings Park Community Hall. This meeting will be an opportunity for residents from the area to set the Policing priorities for the area, as well as deciding on who should represent the area at the Eastbourne wide panel held each month.
PC Ed Faulkner, Neighbourhood PC for the area, said "I am really pleased that we are able to move forward the panel for this important area of Eastbourne. I know that the local residents for the area are really keen to get on with the task of improving the area further from the great work that has already been put in by the local PCSO's and community partnerships. I very much hope that we get a large turnout at this meeting so that we can pull together all views from the area."

After the second meeting for residents of the Kingsmere estate, local Police are now taking the next steps to form the new group. It has been decided that an approach will be made to the management group of Kings Park to explore the possibility of the two areas working together to resolve the issues that affect the area.
PC Ed Faulkner said "PCSO's Martin Hylands, Roy Collins, and I will be working hard to bring together these two important areas. Many of the issues that affect one affect the other and I am really pleased with this progress. I am looking to hold the initial meeting as soon as possible and will ensure all residents are aware of the date. This is yet another step in the progress of forming the 21 panels across Eastbourne,"

Kingsmere Panel Start-up meeting
The Neighbourhood Policing Team for Kingsmere are holding a meeting for all residents of the Kingsmere estate on the evening of 10th February 2009. This meeting is designed to allow all residents to have their say on the future of the Panel and to bring together the results of the recent survey of the estate.
PC Ed Faulkner, Neighbourhood PC for the area, said "I very much hope that this meeting is very well attended. We have held previous meetings where issues have been raised and dealt with, and I am aiming to pull together all activity to form a panel for this area.
Additionally I will make sure that the new Eastbourne Neighbourhood Panel website is kept updated with out efforts and progress that we make. We aim to bring together Kings Park and Kingsmere in one panel to enhance relations and build on the good work already under way by the relevant residents associations"
